Hi, I’m Eric Raymond

My family’s roots in Leelanau County date back to 1944, when my grandparents moved here from Chicago. I grew up in Grand Rapids, MI, where my dad was an artist, educator, and photographer. Thanks to his summers off, I spent my first 17 summers on Good Harbor Bay.

In 1976, my parents and grandparents sold their land to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and my parents bought a cottage on Lime Lake, still in our family today.

Following in my dad’s footsteps, I earned a BFA from MSU. Though I didn’t use my degree professionally until now, the fundamentals of art—perspective, space, form, line, lighting, color, and texture—have shaped how I create. My goal is to evoke emotion through composition and photographic editing techniques.

Much of my inspiration comes from the stunning landscapes around us. Feel free to ask any questions about my work or Leelanau County!
